Kapok, güney doğu -Eski Asya ve Batı -Afrika’ya özgü tropikal bir ağaçtır. Kapok ağacı 70 m
kadar büyür ve bu nedenle sıklıkla sınır ağacı olarak kullanılmıştır. Dalları dikenlerle kaplıdır.
Kapok ağacı vahşi doğada 300 yıl hayatta kalabilir.

and has therefore often been used as border tree. Branches are covered with thorns. Kapok
trees can survive as much as 300 years
